NearSight listens for the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) advertisements that nearby devices broadcast and decodes what those devices are. It is a tool for curiosity and understanding the radio environment around you. Please read this before relying on it.
NearSight is not a safety or security device. It is not a personal-safety, anti-stalking, counter-surveillance, or bug-sweeping tool, and it is not a hidden-camera or listening-device detector. Do not rely on NearSight for your physical safety or to determine whether you are being watched, recorded, or followed.
Even within Bluetooth, coverage is incomplete — by design as much as by limitation:
No completeness guarantee. NearSight cannot guarantee it will find every tracker, camera, or listening device near you. The absence of a device in NearSight does not mean the device is not there.
Use the authoritative tools, not NearSight. For unwanted tracking, Apple's Find My (iOS), Google's Unknown Tracker Alerts (Android), and tracker-specific apps can verify ownership and trigger alerts. If you feel unsafe, contact local law enforcement or a professional service. NearSight is a general BLE explorer, not a substitute for any of these.
NearSight is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. You use it at your own risk, and your reliance on anything it shows (or does not show) is your own responsibility. Nothing in the app or its listing should be read as a promise of completeness, accuracy, or safety. This does not limit any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.
Don't use NearSight to identify, follow, or surveil people without their consent.
